Well on Friday, Mike and I headed out bright and early for our trip to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. It was a fluke that we even got tickets (thanks Becky!) but we were so excited to go. Wyatt stayed at his grandparents house and we were looking forward to a weekend of fun. The drive to Dallas went fine, it was eight hours but driving my new car seemed to make the journey go by quicker and we got great gas mileage!
As soon as we got to Dallas we checked into our hotel and then headed to Cowboys Stadium. We got there fairly quickly but once we tried to find out parking lot it turned into a slight headache. We couldn't find the right lot and the streets were a mess to navigate. Around 5pm we got to our parking lot and found our friends to hang out a bit before the game. We didn't waste too much time because the walk to get to the stadium was quite a hike. It was so great though to see so many people that I may not know but we were all there for one common good; to W-I-N!

Now those of you that watched the Cotton Bowl know that K-State didn't win. The stadium was so monstrous that it was overwhelming. In fact, it made me really sick being that high up and looking down on the field. I felt sick most of the game and I'm sure in the picture you can tell that I'm not 100% and that was before the game began. I spent a lot of time walking around the concession area and just chilling. The stadium has over 80,000 people in it and while I was on one of my walks I saw one of my students! Who would have thought! I knew that him and his family were coming but never thought we would actually see each other at the game. Once the game was over we headed back to our hotel and slept for a very long time.
The next afternoon we headed to Ft. Worth and walked around the Stockyards. It was a pretty cool place, very touristy, but cool. We walked around there and window shopped. We ate lunch at a little cafe that had the best burger I've had in ages. It was true cafe/bar food; loaded with grease! We found Wyatt a cowboy hat and then stuck around for the cattle drive.

After the Stockyards we headed to Dallas and went to the Dealey Plaza. We didn't get there in enough time to tour the building where the James Earl Ray stood and shot President Kennedy but we walked around outside and took in the beautiful buildings.

We had dinner with friends and then called it a night. Sunday morning we left Dallas and headed back to Wamego. It was a great road trip and we can't wait to go back to Dallas and take Wyatt to the aquarium and zoo.
