Our First Valentine's

Today was Day 1 of being snowed in and no school for both Wyatt and I. It turned out to not be bad so Wyatt and I used that day to run around and try to get out of the house as much as possible before the big snow came! We had lunch at Gambino's, went to Target to get a baby shower gift for Mike's cousin. and then stopped by Dyer's to grab some snacks for the lurking snow days ahead.
The first thing we saw when we walked into Dyer's was a display of Valentine's Day cards for kids. You remember the kind we would hand out as kids with some cartoon character or tv show on them. The kind that I still get every year from kids at school. Well since it's Wamego they didn't have a large selection to chose from: Wizards of Waverly Place, Bakugan, Wow wow Wubbzy, and Yo Gabba Gabba! Once we saw Yo Gabba Gabba it was over and the decision was made, we had to get them. Wyatt doesn't watch much tv but he will watch a solid 3 minutes of Yo Gabba Gabba before finding something else to do. Trust me when I saw that's a lot for him!!
We grabbed those and the rest of our loot and made out like a bandit for home before the snow came. When we got home we had to get them out and start filling them out. I filled out as many as I could remember from his class and then my friends' kids. I got done with that and then let him get his crayons and put his own personal touch on the valentine's.
Look at the precision of that crayon.
He would color on it and then hand it to me so that he could get another one to color on.

I had pre-written names on them and his and then he was going back and using his crayon to "sign" his name again.

You can't see it in this but he was only signing where I put his name. Oh and he is also doing such a good job holding the crayon like a pencil. See above! Big smiles on my face!!

A close up of the new grip on his crayon! Way to use those fine motor skills. God I'm such a teacher!!

This was the only picture I could get of him when he was actually looking at me. At least his nose looks semi-clean!

Best Buds

Wyatt has a best bud and his name is Garfield! They spend a lot of time together. I'm sure not always to Garfield's delight. This past weekend Wyatt found a new hobby and it incorporated his two loves; cars and Garfield.
Stacking cars on a sleeping Garfield until he rolled over and they fell off!

That looks like a good idea. We should both take a nap! :)

My Favorite Time

My favorite time all week long happens on two days of the week and usually only about 20 minutes each time. My favorite time is on Saturday and Sunday morning when Wyatt wakes up. Usually either Mike or I goes and gets him out of his crib and brings him into our bed to lay with us. We just all lay there comfy and cozy in our warm bed and snuggle into each other those last breaths of morning before we start our day. Wyatt usually goes between Mike and I and lays on our bellies and chests. Then he gets up and starts wiggling around under the covers. By that time the cat has made his appearance and Wyatt is now infatuated with him and pets him and gets him purring. Then before we know it he has leaped off the bed and Wyatt is now following him and that's the end of my favorite time. It doesn't happen everyday but I think that's what makes it even more special. :)

20-months old

Wyatt is now 20-months old and he has been growing so much in the last couple of months it is crazy!

We have hit some new milestones, such as talking! He is jabbering up a storm. He has added these words to his vocabulary: blue, green, cheese, tractor, truck, one, two, three, poppa, and milk. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones that stick out to me right now. He can pretty much "say" anything you say by mimicking it back to you but double syllables and words that begin with "r" and "l" are a little tricky.

He is weighing in at a whopping 23 pounds! We never thought we would see the day that he would reach 20 let alone 23 pounds. His favorite foods are: cereal, chicken nuggets, green beans, pizza, meatloaf muffins, macaroni, tropical fruit cups, grapes, applesauce, crackers, and yogurt. He will pretty much try anything we are eating but that doesn't always means he will like it. Although he is a pretty big fan of being fed by anyone but him.

Wyatt is also a big fan of the following activities: playing with play-doh, racing cars, drawing, running, reading, and tumbling!

He also has 13 teeth now. The two teeth that he has been working on since Thanksgiving have finally broken through!!! :)

Wyatt is also going on ear infection #3, in a row. He is taking a stronger medicine now and we will be following that up with starting a regimin of Clariten allergy meds to help with the blockage in his sinus passages. Fingers crossed that the allergy meds are what we need for no more ear infections!

Here's a pic of Wyatt riding his dinosaur rocker after his bath tonight!
Yep, he's naked!

Family Bucket List

A friend of mine started her bucket list and posted it on her blog and I thought this was a wonderful idea. Since my bucket list has changed dramatically since having Wyatt, I thought I would post my "family" bucket list, first.

Family Bucket List
-Travel somewhere for Christmas a couple of times.
-Take Wyatt to Disney World in Florida.
-Go on a family trip with Stacie, Jacob, and Abraham anywhere!
-Take Wyatt to an ocean.
-Visit as many zoos/aquariums as possible.
-Spend a summer at the pool swimming like fishes.
-Take a plane ride somewhere with Wyatt.
-Visit Washington D.C..
-Spend a summer at a lake.
-Go camping.
-Taking Adrian and Wyatt on a trip somewhere.

I'm sure there are many more things that I could add but these were the ones that I thought were the best. Stay tuned for "My" bucket list to appear soon.

Please!!!

Can't a Mom get a picture with her son without looking like a total dweeb?! Wyatt was in a particularly good mood tonight, so I had Mike taking pictures of mother and son in a loving, caring kind of way. I wanted to really show how much we love each other and how much Wyatt dotes on his Momma.

This is what I got instead!
#1-Great pic of me but not so much of Wyatt!

This one cracks me up because it's a better shot of John Candy than Wyatt or I. Can you tell what movie we were watching?

I had to hold so tight because he was kicking and trying to run away from me. Any thoughts on the movie?

#4-Crappy pic of both of us! If you guessed correctly the movie was The Great Outdoors. Thanks for playing along. Needless to say, we need to work on our picture taking skills!

Snow Day and Momma's Birthday

Well this morning I woke up to the sound of my phone beeping because I got THE TEXT, NO SCHOOL DUE TO SNOW! Now, generally I'm not a fan of snow days because I always feel like I get behind and never get caught back up, especially when getting ready for State Assessments. Since I don't have school that meant Wyatt didn't have school. So we got to spend the whole day together.
Not a great picture but I think you get the point. It snowed, big time. We got about 6 inches of snow overnight and it was still snowing when we woke up.

Wyatt was very interested in the snow and me being the mean Momma that I am didn't let him venture out in it. I have reasons and I will tell you them in no particular order! 1. He is still currently taking medication for an ear infection that never went away. 2. He has no snow appropriate shoes or snow outfit. 3. It was really cold and I didn't want to go outside. (Okay, so the last one isn't the best but it was really cold!)

So after Wyatt and I enjoyed our day together at home, Mike got home and came bearing gifts for my birthday. He got me Just Dance 2 for the Wii. I played this game last year with my kids at school and it was so fun. Now I have it and can't wait to play it. :) Here are some very funny looking pictures of Wyatt and I playing Just Dance 2.

Viewer Discretion is Advised!!

I look like a total idiot!

Since Wyatt didn't have a Wii remote he was using his markers to dance with!

New Table and Chairs

Wyatt has his own set of table and chairs thanks to some Christmas money and some help from Mom and Dad. I bought this cute little set from Wal-Mart and loved the bright colors. We ordered it after Christmas and of course it took forever two weeks to get here. We opened it the next morning and he has had a blast with it since.
Coloring very intently.

The table has already been broken in and has crayon marks on it. The first day!!

I can play with my play-doh on it, too!

Trying to get on the chair without being far away from the table.

I'll tumble for ya!

Last Wednesday, my school had an open gym day at Gymnastics Plus in Manhattan for TR families. I decided to take Wyatt since I knew the kids that would be there and it wouldn't be too crowded. We had another teacher from school and her daughter meeting us there, since I didn't want to be the only person with a small child there. Wyatt had an absolute blast while we were there and cried when we left 45 minutes later. Since then he's been doing some of his own tumbling in the living room. We've set up a little padded area for him to climb over and fall on. He is getting quite daring, I must say!!
Coming over!

Of course he goes head first!

Now trying to go over on his back and backwards! Such a daredevil.

Coming back. And yes that is his little couch, just flipped over! We like to use our imaginations here. ;)

Finally...

a picture of Wyatt and my mom! It seems like I have very few (literally less than 5) pictures of my mom and Wyatt. This is for Wyatt's entire life! So when she came by for a mini-visit on the first of the year it was a great photo opportunity.
My mom looks great but Wyatt not so much. He was still very sick here.

She did this and he thought that was pretty cool!!

Happy New Year

from a sick little boy! That's right we aren't feeling well, again! I credit this time to two new teeth that have finally broken through and being in a new room at daycare. Hopefully he can kick this crud before Monday.
