Night #3

Well last night didn't go much better. He went down better but woke back up around 10:30pm and we did the dance of up and down until about 12:30am. This time wasn't as bad as the second night though. I think it was because it happened earlier in the night so I hadn't been asleep that long when it started. He did a better job though of going back to bed but he just couldn't stay asleep. I don't know if we need to start going to bed later or if this is just part of the adjustment of a "new" bed. We'll see.

Toddler Bed-Night #2

Well I would like to say that night #2 was as great as night #1 but it wasn't! He went to bed like usual and then around 3am woke up crying. I went in and rocked him and put him back down and thought all was well. Little did I know that that was just the beginning. We spent the next hour getting up and rocking and laying with him in bed. He would fall asleep and then wake up minutes later crying. I went in and laid with him one final time and thought he was asleep. I went back to bed and everything was good until I heard the sound of little feet coming into the room. I don't know how long he was up wondering but it was 4am and I just let him climb into bed with us. For those of you that read this blog know that I don't sleep with Wyatt or let him sleep with me. But I was desperate and just let him get in bed with us. After about ten minutes I decided that he had been comforted enough and we walked back to his bed. He laid down and finally went to sleep. Then I spent the next half-hour thinking that I kept hearing him getting up and that he was wondering around the upstairs. I eventually fell asleep and was awoken by that sweet boy again but around 7am, much more reasonable. I hope this is just an adjustment period and I'm so glad that I waited until Summer to do this because if this happened during the school year it would not be a pretty picture. I'm pretty sure the crib rail would have been put back on this morning! Our plan of attack is now putting a gate up in his doorway and maybe seeing that will derail him from getting up. Fingers crossed!!

Extreme Couponer

So I'm sure many of you have seen this show on TLC and it just baffles me how these people do it. I would love to save that much money and not have to go to the store as much as I do. After watching many, many episodes I knew the only way to get started was to actually get a Sunday paper and start looking through the coupons.
This morning Wyatt and I headed out to Dyer's to get the Topeka Capital Journal and all the great coupons that it had. Upon our arrival I clearly underestimated the price of the paper, $2.50!! Holy cow!! I scrounged up enough change and was able to purchase the paper. Sidenote: I've always had a phobia of newspaper machines because of several instances growing up when I had to get the paper and something would happen and the machine wouldn't open and I couldn't get the paper for my parents and it kept their change as well. This wasn't just 50-cents this was $2.50 and I was nervous. It all worked out, go me! I made sure to open the first paper and see if the ads were there before taking it. As I was looking through to make sure the ads were there, a lady came out of the store and was wanting a paper. So I went ahead and grabbed it and left. When Wyatt and I got home we opened it up to bask in our glory of getting our first Sunday's worth of coupons only to discover there was NONE!! I don't know if someone took the coupons out of the top paper or what but there wasn't any! I am so mad!!
So the goal for next Sunday is to get another paper that has coupons in it!! I won't be afraid to stand there and look through the paper and make sure my coupons are there, since I'm paying for it.
Oh and if you have coupons that you don't use from the Sunday paper or any time feel free to mail them to me and I will do the same for you!

Dribbler

For the past month Wyatt has been really wanting to dribble his basketball and not the little one the full-size one! He worked on it some last weekend with his Nana and Poppa Flash and did very well. This morning he decided to get out his basketball and was really going to town dribbling it. I have to say that I was actually impressed how well he could dribble it. Future NBA player on our hands, doubt it, but he's definitely getting those gross motor skills down!
Picking it up

He dribbles and runs at the same time!

He really gets into it!

Going back for more. I can just imagine him running up and down a basketball court already! :)

Toddler Bed

Last night was Wyatt's first night in his toddler bed and he did G-R-E-A-T! His crib converts into a toddler bed so the transition wasn't that big of one, which doesn't bother me at all. He watched Mike take down the crib side of his bed and attach the bed rails and thought that it looked like a great trampoline. He was jumping like crazy in his and was truly showing his excitement. He definitely liked being able to get in and out of his bed all by himself.
When I put him to bed last night we rocked just for a couple of minutes and then I went and laid him in his bed and he just looked around for a little bit at where the crib side had been. After a couple of minutes he rolled over and went to sleep and that's all we heard from him the whole night.
Then this morning I was awakened by the patter of little feet that were climbing the bed and telling Garfield to move so that he could climb up the side of the bed. Of course Garfield wasn't budging and Wyatt needed me to make him move and then he climbed up and snuggled with his Momma before heading down to get our breakfast of waffles and strawberries.
Here's hoping that the rest of the nights go just as well!! :)
This was the only picture I could get that really showed you the new rails.

Putting his blankie back on the side.

Walking over to jump!

24-Month Check-Up

Today was Wyatt's twenty-four month check up and all is well in the Glotzbach family. The trip was short and sweet and the best part of the whole thing is that we don't have to go back for a whole year!! His next appointment is May 21, 2012!! Yeah, baby!
His current stats are: weight- 24 pounds 8 ounces=9% and height- 34.5 inches=51%. His biggest change has been his height and he has grown 2.5 inches in just six months. Crazy!! We talked about the usual stuff and when Dr. Rose looked in Wyatt's ears he said that his tubes were looking great. Which is another appointment that we have on June 9th with Dr. Pease.
So apparently all is well in Wyatt's world. He is developing along great. We did get a speech referral to have him tested but I'm not sure if we are going to take him. His speech has improved since getting tubes and he is working on more sounds and putting sentences together, so we'll just play it by ear for now.

Turning 2!!

Today we celebrated Wyatt's 2nd birthday. No, it's not technically his birthday, that's another week away, but we celebrated early. We held his party at the Train Depot in City Park, the same place we held it last year and it was great! The weather had been extremely hot at the beginning of the week but today was terrific. It was a cool 60-ish degrees and perfect jacket weather. This year we did a smaller party than his first and just invited our parents, grandparents, and friends.

Another wonderful cake job that Mike did!! Thanks dad!!

Blowing out the candle, with a little help from the wind!

Posing with Momma!

His first movie, Yo Gabba Gabba!! Thanks Ally!!

Play-Doh hamburger maker from Aunt Amanda

Critter Catcher from Adrian and Aunt Kimmy

T-Ball set from Becky and Matt

First Fishing Pole from Dad!!
And a John Deere pedal-tractor with trailer!

We couldn't wait to get it out and had to try it ASAP! It even has enough room for a passenger! Wyatt giving Ally a ride on his new tractor.

And a great smile as the party comes to an end! :)

Thanks to everyone that were able to come and make this a special day for Wyatt! :)

Colors-Check!

We can check off learning colors on Wyatt's list. He can name all his colors and tell you what color an object is if you ask him. He is also picking out different colors while we are driving and telling me what the object is and what color it is. Right now, his color of choice is Yellow. He picks out everything that is yellow and tells me what it is and that it's "lello". Still working on the "y" as a consonant sound but we'll get there. :)
Next on our list is shapes, numbers, and getting out of diapers! :)

Tubes

Well today was THE DAY. Wyatt got his tubes today and so far, so good! We had to be at the Surgical Center at seven this morning and then he was scheduled to be in surgery at eight. Well once we got there and checked in we only waited a couple of minutes before we were called back to the waiting area. Once we got back there they took his blood pressure and temperature and made him change into a very lovely gown. Then came the waiting game. We waited and waited and waited. Finally we saw the anesthesiologist and then finally Dr. Pease. Once we saw them it wasn't long until it was finally his turn to go back. This is where I had to leave him. We couldn't go back with him and we wouldn't see him again until after the doctor saw us and he was awake from the gas. Well when we finished talking to the doctor we could hear a loud crying coming from the recovery room and we knew instantly it was Wyatt!! He definitely cried the entire time waking up from anesthesia. Then we got to go back and comfort him and get him ready to go home. He drank half a cup of water and ate a bowl of cereal before we left. Wyatt like his momma doesn't do well when we don't have food or water. After he got that in him he calmed down a little bit and we got to leave. He is doing great and he should be back to daycare tomorrow! Success!!

Topeka Zoo

Today we celebrated Mother's Day, a day early, and we headed to Topeka Zoo since the weather was beautiful! We had a great time and this year the zoo went much better than last year did. Wyatt was very into the animals and loved looking at every single one. Well every single one that was moving or making a sound. The animals that were too quiet or didn't move didn't really get his attention. He really loved the giraffes. In fact, we had to stop and observe them three different times in our trip to the zoo. He even had a meltdown when we left because we couldn't take the giraffes with us. So Wyatt's new favorite animal is now the giraffe!
We had to stop for a photo op on the lion statue.

Watching the giraffes!

You know what's easier, if I just climb the fence!

So intently watching them. The baby giraffe was right there eating leaves off a tree.

Another photo op on the wooden bear!

This zoo trip was so successful that we purchased a zoo and aquarium family pass for any zoo and aquarium in the U.S.. We either get in free or at a 50% off admission rate. We also get discounts at the gift shop!! :) Score for momma!! Needless to say be expected to see a lot of zoo pics on the blog this summer.

ENT Visit

Today we went to the ENT in Manhattan and the verdict is...tubes! Dr. Pease thought he would be a great candidate for tubes and we have scheduled the surgery. I have to say the scariest thing about the whole process was being the "designated signer" for Wyatt's insurance form at the doctor's office. I had to sign my name to a paper saying "death" as an option for getting tubes. It was nerve-racking to say the least.
Wyatt's appointment is for Monday. We won't know what time he has to come in until Sunday night. They go in order from youngest to oldest. We were told at the scheduling appointment that he wasn't the youngest and he wasn't the oldest scheduled for that day. So he's somewhere in the middle. Overall, the process takes fifteen minutes and we should only be at the hospital an hour max.
I hope that this procedure will help with his ear infections and keep future ones from reoccuring. Here's hoping!!
