Wyatt has turned 8 months old and according to my Similac feeding chart he is supposed to be eating 3-4 bottles a day that have 7-8 ounces each. Well he has decided that he doesn't need that much formula. He's been eating 3-7 oz bottles and sometimes a 4 oz bottle before bed. He has found his love for food! He eats oatmeal and half a container of fruit in the morning. In the afternoon he eats half a containter of vegetables and then in the evening he finishes the halves of fruit and vegetable that he ate earlier. He has been an eating machine and loves it very much.
He still doesn't care for adult food. We have tried giving him different bites of things and he either gags or spits it out. We just introduced the Gerber Wagon Wheels that he can chew on and he loves them. He mainly chews the heck out of it and then squishes the pieces between his hands. He is definately a texture baby and loves feeling all of the different textures in his hands. I'm hoping this summer, when he can stand on his own, we can do some pudding drawing on paper outside. I think he will love it!!
On another side note, Wyatt's new favorite place to play is the floor! He doesn't want to be in his bouncy chair, johnny jumper, or jumperoo at all. He wants to be on the floor playing and rolling. Every once in a while he will let me put him into his walker and he will play in there but for the most part he has to be on the floor and moving. No crawling yet but that's okay, we still have quite a bit of baby-proofing to do before he gets there!

Maybe Momma isn't ready for the big boy carseat :(
Well weekday #1 of Wyatt and his big boy carseat and so far I'm not sure. It's not the carseat or anything like that, it's just that today it was so cold and it would have been so nice to not have to carry him out into the cold and then wait for me to buckle him in while the cold air is blowing in. Now I know you're saying, "Well duh, Sara, it's the winter. Think about it." or "You are going to eventually have to put him into his carseat into the winter at some point. He can't sit in an infant seat forever." I know all of these things but still feeling unsure.
Here's another point I have about the big boy seat, right now. We do a lot of driving. In fact, Wyatt spends at least an hour in the car everyday. Not because I'm driving him around and just cruising but because of driving to daycare and home. This evening we were driving home and he fell asleep, like he usually does, but his head was so flopped over I couldn't even see his face.
So in conclucsion, I'm thinking we are going back to the infant seat for just a little bit longer. We'll revisit it again when it gets a little warmer and his head won't be so slouchy.

Friends!!
Last night we went to some friend's house for dinner and had a blast! We went over to Josh and Alicia's house, which was very exciting because we both have babies that are about a month and a half apart. We haven't been able to get together and hang out since the babies had been born. Go figure!! The crazy life of having a newborn in your house, layoffs at work, and starting new jobs. Needless to say we haven't seen each other in awhile.
I didn't know how Wyatt would do with Claire since he's only seen kids older than him and babies that are much younger than him. It was so awesome! Claire and Wyatt played and played and played. Claire is crawling now and Wyatt would just watch her in amazement and wonder how she was doing that. Mike and I were both hoping he was just watching her and taking notes! :) They did such a great job together last night and we can't wait to get them together again. Here's a pic from our fun baby night!
From left to right: Alicia, Claire, Wyatt, and Me!
Wanna take a ride?
Wyatt's carseat was actually pretty easy to get installed once I quit ready the stupid directions. I swear they make them so much more difficult than they really have to be. I got it installed and it looks great!
Wyatt even got to ride in his new carseat and he loves it! I really think he likes being able to look out the window and has more range of motion to play and move around. My only complaint is the covers on the straps. They are really big and cover his entire chest. I'm sure as he gets bigger they won't seem nearly as big. Overall, I'm thrilled with the carseat and the pattern is just as cute as in person as it is in pictures.

It's here!!
Wyatt's new carseat is here and unpacked! Now all I have to do is figure out how to install it.

And the winner is...
The Britax Marathon in Cowmooflage! This carseat was too freaking cute and I have heard nothing but great things about this brand. So we are getting one. I just placed my order and got free shipping and found a website that was taking an extra 20% off of all Britax carseats! So what would have cost us $279.99 plus shipping cost us $223.00 total! It should be here in a couple of days. I will post pics! :)

Can we bring the wedge back?
I know you are reading the title thinking "What? Why would they do that? He is able to sleep without it and usually doesn't sleep on it anyways!" Well this past week Wyatt has finally learned that he can move anywhere he wants in his bed. ANYWHERE! So that means he can play instead of sleep. We don't keep toys in his bed and he has a mobile that we play sometimes but there's nothing in there that is that interesting that he should still be awake at 8:30pm or even 9pm (last night)!
I'm hoping that this is just a phase and he will be through exploring his crib before the beginning my work week; Tuesday. Because I really can't get much done when he's awake until 9pm and awake playing at 6am or sometimes 5am.
Our plan of attack is: Keep him awake as long as possible before bedtime, any nap after 5pm will only last 45 minutes MAX, and let him jump in his Johnny Jumper as long as possible before bedtime.
So we'll see how that works for us and I'll keep you posted. Fingers crossed!!

Big Boy Carseat
Now is the time for Mike and I to start thinking about getting Wyatt his "big boy" carseat and move him from his infant seat. He is so long that he barely fits into his infant seat. In fact, we got a carseat cover for this winter to keep him warm and he kicked it off because his legs were so long that it barely covered them and the carseat. So we are in the process of looking for a new carseat and it is so confusing. We went to Babies-R-Us last weekend and sat Wyatt in a couple and they didn't look nearly as big as they did when he wasn't in them. There are just so many options and it feels like when we were registering for the first time all over again. Any suggestions would be greatly beneficial.

Wedge Be Gone
It's official, Wyatt is done with his wedge! He has been moving and wiggling so much while sleeping lately that most of the time he wiggles his way off and over. For a couple of weeks we've been sleeping without the wedge during nap times. This weekend we tried to go wedge free for all sleeping and it's gone wonderfully. One more step to becoming the big boy he already is!

Stage 2
Wyatt is moving onto Stage 2 foods! He ate Apple Bluberry this morning and loved it! I have a feeling he is really going to like all the fruits. So far we've only tried Stage 2 fruits. We still have 4 containers of Stage 1 veggies to finish up before we begin Stage 2 veggies. I think he's going to like the veggies so much better in Stage 2 because they are combinations and not just one solid veggie. So far he doesn't care for peas, so hopefully he'll grow to like them in the new veggie mixes.
That's about all the new things we are doing. Wyatt and I have just been enjoying each other's company while having 2 snow days this week.
