First Snow of the Year

Today we had our first snow of the year, and in the nick of time! We, thankfully, had a snow day and Wyatt and I got to spend it playing in the snow!

My favorite picture!

Khemometer

Wyatt brought home his present that he made at school for us. I, of course, had to open that evening and couldn't wait until Christmas. We loved it and we asked him what it was, to see if he really knew, and he told us it was a Khemometer. We could use it to see how hot and cold it is and then explained to us how the khemometer works and what the mercury would do inside. Love it! :)

Sausage Balls

I made sausage balls this morning for my colleagues at work. They were a big hit at our Christmas party so I thought they would be a welcomed surprise for everyone during this final week of school before Christmas break. I used 1-1.5 pounds of sausage, 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese, and 2 cups of Bisquick. Melt the cheese a little bit in the microwave and then add in your sausage and Bisquick. Use your hands and start mixing everything together. When I'm finished mixing everything I use a scoop and sheet cake pans to cook my sausage balls. I cook them at 350-degrees for 20-25 minutes. I like mine with a little crisp so they go for 25 minutes. Love them and super easy to make! Sorry there aren't any pictures of the finished product, I had to wrap them in foil as soon as I was done. I still hadn't gotten ready for work and needed to jump in the shower. That and by wrapping them up it prevents me from eating them all! :)

Ingredients

What it looks like once mixed. After scooping balls out I like to go back and remix to get any extra Bisquick left on the bottom.

Ready to go into the oven for 25 minutes. My recipe can make almost 60 balls. I use two sheet cake pans like this and they are filled.

Grades

My first semester of Grad classes are over and according to my grades I did well! One semester done, four more to go!

Giving at Christmas

For the past three years we have adopted a foster child for Christmas and given them presents and necessities they have needed/requested. We try to get a child that is the same age as Wyatt so that he could feel a connection to the child and can help pick out toys for him/her. Each year we talk to him about how he is very lucky to have a mom and dad and family who love him very much and can be there for him. We talk about why the kids are in foster care and how this will make them happy because they will know that someone cares for them and is thinking of them. Well while we were shopping for our foster child today Wyatt decided to throw a royal fit! After he had picked out the toys for the little boy we headed to the clothes and shoe department when the fit throwing started. He kicked off his shoes and was just generally being a brat! The highlight was when he started yelling that he wanted to be a foster child and get presents! Yes, that's what he said! I talked to him in a hushed voice so that everyone couldn't hear the tone in which I was talking to him and then he said that he didn't want a mom and dad so he could get presents. Oy vey! Who's child is this, anyone? At this point he was about to become a foster child.
On Sunday he was happier about the situation and had turned around his attitude about being a foster child and not having a mom and dad. We packed up the presents and clothes for the foster child and Wyatt wanted to make sure that he had fruit snacks to eat, so we threw a couple of packages in for good measure. Here's to hoping that next year will go even better!

Party Time Pretend

Wyatt has been pretending a lot lately and today he decided to be a chef/doctor. He was cooking up such a storm that he had to invite guests to his party and set up everything himself. He even made sure that everyone had a seat to sit on. Remember party planning is all in the details!
Everyone is ready to eat!

How people get snotty...

Wyatt has been cracking us up lately with his voice of reason for why things happen. Here is his latest. He woke up on today and was really snotty and clogged up. I asked him how he got so snotty since the night before he was literally fine. It was like he caught a cold overnight. He told us: "There was some snot on the floor at school and I stepped on it. The snot went up my foot and leg and went into my head and came out my nose. That's how I got so snotty." So make sure to avoid stepping on snot while out and about!

Christmas Program 2012

Wyatt's school Christmas program was tonight and it was fantastic! This year was even better than last year because he actually got to sing some songs, 3 in fact! He did such a good job and we couldn't be prouder. Of course he is the one that sticks out from the rest of the bunch! We had a nice outfit picked out for the program but when he got home he didn't want anything to do with it. I decided to choose my battles and let this one lye. I could careless what he's wearing to sing Christmas songs in and I wanted him to be comfy and enjoy himself, so we went with jeans, tennis shoes and a sweater. It worked out and everyone was happy in the end!

He even got to wear a hat to make him Frosty!

Is this how construction workers are supposed to dress?

I just found this picture on my camera and had to share it. I haven't been using my camera at all much lately since I got my new iPhone.

Final Home Game

Tonight was the final KSU home game and it was a doozy! We got tickets through my school and so you can never count on where you are going to sit. Most of the seats we've had had been good but this was by far the worst seats we've had because of this (see picture below)! We were sitting directly next to the Texas band. They literally played the E-N-T-I-R-E game! Aside from their hideous tacky band outfits they were so annoying. If they weren't playing their instruments then they were shaking cowbells and chanting. The band was so distracting that I couldn't even focus on the game for most of the first half. The only relief we had was during half-time when they couldn't play because KSU's band was playing. Of course  K-State won and we are now the Big 12 Champs!
We didn't stick around for the trophy ceremony, so we left with one minute left in the game. We were walking back to our car when this college kid came up and asked if he could walk with Mike and I because he didn't want to walk by himself and appear suspicious, since he was drunk! We said sure and he walked with us a ways. He then proceeded to say that he could be our son and was walking with us but he didn't really think we were that old. Thanks drunk college kid!

We were in row 6, that's close!
