No longer an Old Lady!

I have been rocking the Hazel and Olive lately! I have been obsessed over their dresses and absolutely love each one I've bought. Here are the details!

This is actually two pieces. The Anything Goes Dress pairs perfectly with the Rhapsody Cardigan. I am wearing a large in both of these. I paired it with grey leggings and the Black Cheyenne Riding Boots. Love this combo and I received so many compliments on this outfit. I had parent/teacher conferences on this day and it held up to a 12-hour day!

The first day of Parent/Teacher conferences I rocked this little number. This is the Metropolitan Zig Zag dress and I paired it with green leggings and brown riding boots. My dress is a large and I absolutely loved it! This dress flows so nice and hangs perfectly on your body. You can't see any lumps or bumps. You will need to wear a slip with this one because it's not lined.

This is the Leopard Cardigan and it is another wardrobe staple for me. I love pairing it with a black tee, skinny jeans, and brown riding boots. I'm wearing a large.

This chevron dress is another great find. I loved wearing this one in the early party of fall. It came with a skinny black belt but the cardigan is mine. It is sleeveless and I wanted a sleeve option for the classroom. I'm wearing a large and also receive many compliments on this dress. They are mainly about how long my legs looks! I got'em so I might as well use them, right?! :)

If you haven't checked out Hazel and Olive I would go by and see what goodies they have for you!

P.S. I've been telling family that all I want for Christmas is Hazel and Olive gift certificates. :)

iPhone Photo Dump

Here's a photo dump from my phone! None of these were particularly blog worthy on their own but as a dump will work pretty good. :)

Wyatt got to bring home the class pet, JoJo, a couple of weekends ago and he was all the rage! Wyatt couldn't go anywhere without him.
I wore my Hazel & Olive dress to school again and got a picture of myself in it! I love it and it's so easy to wear, which is what I need! I run around with kids all day long and it lasted all day with me.
I finally got my 13.1 sticker put on my car!!
I've been running again. I only ran two days the week after my half and then 3 last week. I'm slowly building up my miles again since I do have two big races coming up! No rest for the weary!
This past weekend we had our annual Oztoberfest in Wamego. And it was a let down. Thank goodness Pumpkin Patch craft show was going on in Manhattan to entertain us!

Wyatt and I spent the evening cooking early in the week. He made sure to grab his apron and chef's hat for the job!
Tonight Wyatt had a genius moment when he made a pancake and bacon sandwich! How smart is he! And yes we had breakfast for supper, again. Don't judge!

Sara Lately!

Miss me?!

Yep, you have guessed it. My summer hiatus is over and I'm back to the grind. Not that I really got a summer anyway with working summer school and taking summer school for grad classes. My summer just wasn't the same as it has been in the past.

Here's what I've been up to lately, RUNNING and WORKING! When I'm not running, I'm working. When I'm not working, I'm running. I have loved training for this half marathon but the time commitment has really kicked my butt with work. I'm going non-stop during the week and it seems like I just don't have time for another thing. I'm kinda excited for the time when I can run just 3 or 4 miles and be done.

Weeks 9 and 10 have flown by with half-marathon training. I kept up with averaging the miles for the past two weeks and then just running that three times. I did really well but did skip one 8-mile run. It just wasn't going to happen and I needed the break. Other than that one skipped run I have ran every single mile I was supposed to.

In other non-school or work news, Wyatt has started playing soccer. His first practice was last Friday and to say I wasn't impressed is the understatement of the century. They didn't do much and their first game is this Saturday! That's right they will have their first game after only two practices. We shall see how this goes. I know during the soccer practice Mike was about to stroke out. As a former soccer player he wasn't liking anything that was happening.

Now you are caught up on my life and hopefully I can start posting regularly again. Here's hoping!

Classroom Tour 2013

As some of you may know, I'm a teacher! Yep, I am grossly underpaid to mold young minds into being productive citizens of society! ;) That's a little sarcasm, if you can't tell. Well, sort of.

But I digress. We have been in school for a 8 days and I always wish I would take pictures of my classroom each year and each year it never gets done. Now that I have a smart phone this has made it much easier to take pictures and post them in a timely manner.

This year I'm still in the same room but my fellow third floor teacher are all novice teachers. There are two brand new teachers and my team teacher from last year who has a year of experience. I'm the Old Maid on the floor. I had to do something different to keep up with these youngens so I decided to have a classroom theme of owls this year. For the record I've never done a classroom theme.

Classroom Tour 2013!

Kidney table with stuff already all over it.

My messy desk. It will look like this all year long or worse at times.

What does your office look like? Do you teach? Classroom themes, yay or nay?

New Year, New Do

We are quickly approaching another new school year and I am plagued with how I should have my hair.

Right before a new school year I like to go and get the works done. I get a new cut, color, and waxed. This year I'm even thinking of throwing in a massage! For me the start of a new school year is like a time of rebirth. Time to shed old, faded hair from the past and get something fresh and new.

I've become incredibly bored with my current style. I've kept it longer so that I can put it into a small pony tail for running but at this point I don't even care if it can.

So here are some choices I'm considering. Let me know your thoughts!
#1-Love the color and how bouncy it looks.

#2-Love the tousled look but not sure I can reproduce it.

#3-Love the layers and how it looks fun.

#4-Love the layers and it would be the shortest I've ever cut my hair.

#5-Not too different than what I have now other than the bangs.

#6-Sleek and great color.
So here are my choices that I'm considering. Look them over and let me know your thoughts! If you have a different suggestion I'm all for it. I also love playing with color!

How often do you change up your style? Are you a short or long hair girl? Color virgin?

Carnival Fun

Tonight Wyatt and I headed to my school's carnival and we had a blast! It was a beautiful evening and perfect for outside carnival fun. I bought a punch ticket and it lasted us 2.5 hours of fun. Best ten bucks I spent in quite a while.

After the giant slide we had to go to the bouncy house!

Then we hopped aboard the train for a quick ride!

5 days and counting...

Today marked only 5 days left before my first 5K! I went to school to do some work (Yes, teachers work over their Spring Break!) and brought my stuff to run after I got done.

I worked for a couple of hours and then was getting itchy to go and run. So I quit working and hopped on my running attire and headed out. I headed to City Park and decided to run around the neighborhood instead. I headed down my favorite streets and just kind of zoned out of how far I was running and thought about where I was going instead. I decided to finish my run at City Park and then head back to school.

The best part of this run was that I ran the W-H-O-L-E time! I did have to stop for about ten seconds at a red light because the traffic was thick but other than that I ran and ran and ran! I even ran into some of my students and kids from TR as I was finishing my run and they rooted me on! :)

In other news I have also ditched the C25K program. It gave me a great start to train with at first but the last two weeks I have been really just focusing on the running and not really doing the warm-ups and cool downs. I've also been focusing on my distance ran and pacing. I think I'm going to be able to sustain this and just focus on running times a week. After I get my 5Ks done for my Operation Red Bikini goal I'm going to start training for a 10K in August. I have also been thinking about doing some trail runs, since it would be a good way to break up my road races. Don't I sound like a professional now!
Can't believe that I just beat my longest distance ran by 0.75 mile!

FML-Notes on Instagram

This was a recent post of mine on Instagram!

To say that I've been feeling overwhelmed lately is an understatement. I constantly feel like my head is inches under the water and I can see the surface but never reach it. Just when I feel like I can finally breathe again the oxygen gets sucked back out and I'm in the water face first.

I knew taking Graduate classes and working full-time with a toddler wasn't going to be easy but holy cow! It's a lot harder than I could have ever imagined. I constantly feel like I'm ignoring Wyatt. It's hard to feel like a good mom when you are constantly telling your child "one more minute" or "just one more chapter to read and then we can play" only to realize that it's already been two hours and it's his bedtime. :(

Luckily for me this morning Wyatt said to me, "Mommy, you're my best friend!" I could have died right then and there. It made my heart melt and I think about those words when I feel like I'm doing this for nothing.

Here's to knowing my semester is almost half over and I'm getting ready to slide down the hill rather than climb up it!

I love this face!

Back to Running

Well this week has been crazy busy! Mike was out of town for part of it and I had Parent/Teacher conferences which meant putting in two 12-hour days! Fun, not! This was not the best semester for conferences in terms of no shows. I had 3 no shows! Ugh!! That sucks! Now I'm in the process of rescheduling and all that fun-ness that comes with it.

My big purchase of the week was actually getting running shoes! I went to Manhattan Running Company and got fitted for running shoes that work for me. I love them and of course they were the most expensive pair I tried on. Go figure!

On Sunday I decided to try running again. I had taken a break because of conferences and my foot hurting so bad. I took the break and rested my foot and with a beautiful day decided to get back at it. I even got to try out my new shoes!

Since I knew I had enough time I went for three miles and was surprised by my time. It felt like starting all over again from scratch on running. I had to stop so many times to walk during my running intervals and had no stamina. This is going to suck getting back!

My foot didn't hurt terribly when running and when I headed home and tried to get out of the car it was throbbing and hurting like crazy. I iced it and all that good stuff so hopefully I can find out something tomorrow at the doctor.
My pace was really good for how crappy I felt like I was doing.

Complete understatement for how I felt.

I dressed way too warm for the weather and realized about five seconds after I got started!

Sausage Balls

I made sausage balls this morning for my colleagues at work. They were a big hit at our Christmas party so I thought they would be a welcomed surprise for everyone during this final week of school before Christmas break. I used 1-1.5 pounds of sausage, 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese, and 2 cups of Bisquick. Melt the cheese a little bit in the microwave and then add in your sausage and Bisquick. Use your hands and start mixing everything together. When I'm finished mixing everything I use a scoop and sheet cake pans to cook my sausage balls. I cook them at 350-degrees for 20-25 minutes. I like mine with a little crisp so they go for 25 minutes. Love them and super easy to make! Sorry there aren't any pictures of the finished product, I had to wrap them in foil as soon as I was done. I still hadn't gotten ready for work and needed to jump in the shower. That and by wrapping them up it prevents me from eating them all! :)

Ingredients

What it looks like once mixed. After scooping balls out I like to go back and remix to get any extra Bisquick left on the bottom.

Ready to go into the oven for 25 minutes. My recipe can make almost 60 balls. I use two sheet cake pans like this and they are filled.
