That was my shock as the doctor told me that Wyatt's eye goop, runny nose, and constant cough wasn't from allergies but a DOUBLE EAR INFECTION! That's right. When I finally broke down and took him to the doctor that was their diagnosis. I felt like a horrible parent, actually horrible doesn't even begin to scratch the surface. Here I was telling daycare that he was okay and just sick with allergies from our camping trip on Labor Day and I was horribly wrong. In fact, his head was so full of ear gunk that it was actually pushing all of his earwax out of his ear. I was just happy to see that it was coming out not really realizing that is was due to the pressure of the infection that was causing it, not that his ears were deciding to be wax-free.
He is now on antibiotics and doing much better. The thing of the whole ear infection is that he wasn't acting that bad. I always thought when he would get an ear infection he would be unbearable and constantly pulling on his ears and that wasn't the case. He just acted like the nose running and eye goop was bothering him. He was a generally happy baby for the most part. We have 4 more days of medicine to take and then we are all clear. I guess we'll be on the lookout even more now!
First double ear infection down and hoping there aren't any more.
