"No that's a hearse, it carries dead people."-Me to my group of 4th graders

So this is a great funny about time, history, and how something that seems so common nature for our generation is not for another.

We are doing a Beverly Cleary book study in my class and one of the books we are reading is Ribsy. In the book the Huggins bought a new station wagon and didn't want Ribsy to ruin the new car by riding in it. They let him anyways since they were going to the shopping center (mall).

After we got done reading our pages for the day we were discussing the reading and the kids were asking me questions about the book. So I decided to ask them a question about it and see if they knew what a station wagon was, since they aren't around much any more.

Well one boy was so excited because he knew what is was and could describe it for his team members. So he starts describing it as big, black, and has a big top on it and really long. He then said that the Huggins family were really lucky because theirs was green and he's never seen a green one before, only black. That's when I figured out that he was talking about a hearse, not a station wagon!!

Hence, my quote as my post title! Gotta love kids!! :)
