Our First Valentine's

Today was Day 1 of being snowed in and no school for both Wyatt and I. It turned out to not be bad so Wyatt and I used that day to run around and try to get out of the house as much as possible before the big snow came! We had lunch at Gambino's, went to Target to get a baby shower gift for Mike's cousin. and then stopped by Dyer's to grab some snacks for the lurking snow days ahead.
The first thing we saw when we walked into Dyer's was a display of Valentine's Day cards for kids. You remember the kind we would hand out as kids with some cartoon character or tv show on them. The kind that I still get every year from kids at school. Well since it's Wamego they didn't have a large selection to chose from: Wizards of Waverly Place, Bakugan, Wow wow Wubbzy, and Yo Gabba Gabba! Once we saw Yo Gabba Gabba it was over and the decision was made, we had to get them. Wyatt doesn't watch much tv but he will watch a solid 3 minutes of Yo Gabba Gabba before finding something else to do. Trust me when I saw that's a lot for him!!
We grabbed those and the rest of our loot and made out like a bandit for home before the snow came. When we got home we had to get them out and start filling them out. I filled out as many as I could remember from his class and then my friends' kids. I got done with that and then let him get his crayons and put his own personal touch on the valentine's.
Look at the precision of that crayon.
He would color on it and then hand it to me so that he could get another one to color on.

I had pre-written names on them and his and then he was going back and using his crayon to "sign" his name again.

You can't see it in this but he was only signing where I put his name. Oh and he is also doing such a good job holding the crayon like a pencil. See above! Big smiles on my face!!

A close up of the new grip on his crayon! Way to use those fine motor skills. God I'm such a teacher!!

This was the only picture I could get of him when he was actually looking at me. At least his nose looks semi-clean!

  1. We used to love getting valentines for school! How fun and and a good source of entertainment for a snowy day! I really am impressed with Wyatt's hand positioning on his Crayons, alot better than fisting the crayon!
