Well I would like to be posting that the sleep regression phase is over and everything is back to normal. The end. Unfortunately the sleep regression has became our new normal and now we've just learned to deal with getting up early and giving Wyatt strategies for how he should act when getting up so early.
He has started sleeping through the night, since Sunday, and has been waking up around 5:30am every morning. Mike has left the house by this time, so I get Wyatt and bring him to bed with me. He knows that we won't go downstairs until the alarm goes off and he has to wait. We are working on patience, big time. He also has to lay there without crying and screaming about going downstairs. Today went much better than Monday and he did a good job of being quiet and laying down. In the mornings when I'm tired and don't want to deal with this I just imagine myself as Michelle Duggar and how she talks to her kids in such a soft, sweet voice. I do that and hope that some how this has a calming effect over Wyatt and I so that I don't harm him in any way.
Another trick that we do is he has to look at the clock and tell me the numbers if he thinks it's time to get up. I'm not saying that he can tell time but he can read the digital numbers to me and then I say how many more minutes until the alarm. The number that is the hardest for him is 9. He can ace all the others just fine.
So here's to our new normal and hoping that we get to keep THIS normal for a little while longer. It's so much better than getting up in the middle of the night.
