Well today was Wyatt's appointment with the audiologist at Dr. Pease's office in Manhattan. We went in and told him about our concerns and the results of the OAE from the doctor's office. He looked into Wyatt's ears and then used this special machine to see if there was fluid in his ears. There was a little bit in this left ear and even more in his right ear. The doctor went ahead and decided to do another OAE just to see how the results would come out. He did the OAE and the results were that he passed, even with the fluid in his ears. He did pay Wyatt a big compliment saying that he was one of the best behaved kids he's had in his room for testing. He didn't get fussy or whiny and really liked running around the room.
The only thing we had to do was let one of the ENT PA's look at Wyatt's fluid in his ears to see if it was a sign of infection or not. The fluid looked okay and probably a remnant of his last ear infection. She did say that the fluid should clear up by the 3-month mark if not then we could have a problem. So we need keep an eye on the fluid and any future ear infections because if they keep occurring we could be looking at tubes.
So all in all, Mike and I are very happy with the verdict and that there are no major issues or health problems with Wyatt. We are just hoping that the ear infections will stay away and there won't be tubes in the future.
That is great news!!
