Hodge-Podge Post

This is the post about a little bit of everything. Good luck following along! :)

Wyatt is feeling much better after the whole ear infection/amoxycillan allergy. We haven't had any other side effects now that we are on new medicine. We only have a couple of days left on the medicine and then we are done with that.

Wyatt has his 18-month doctor's appointment next Wednesday and I will be so excited to see how much weight he has gained and how tall he has gotten. I'm really thinking that we've hit the 20lb. mark on the scale. He feels heavier to me, at least!! He has also gotten quite a bit taller and now we can't roll up his pants to keep them on his tiny butt because they look like they are flood pants! ;)

Wyatt has been learning baby sign language from Mike and I and has really picked it up. He knows the signs for: more, food, water, thank you, and bird. We are working on: mom, dad, and please. We don't just use the signs when we talk to him, we always say the word and try to have him say the word. The biggest frustration we have found is when he's with people that don't know the signs and then he gets frustrated because they don't know what he's trying to say.

Speaking of talking, we definately don't have a chatterbox on our hands. He says a handful of words that you can tell what they are supposed to be and talks in his own jargon when playing but still not a huge talker. I'm not convienced it's because he still has a pacifier because he only gets it at night/nap time. We don't let him just spend all day with it in his mouth. I think he spends a lot of time working on his motor skills and talking is the least of his worries. But there are definately times when I wish he would tell me what he wants!! We have started using the phrase, "Use your words!" quite a bit. Does he really use, not so much as screaming or yelling but at least he hears the phrase.
