Operation Red Bikini

Okay so normally I refuse to do the new year's resolutions but this year I've decided I'm still not doing resolutions but taking part in mini-challenges from the blog world. I've decided to take part in Operation Red Bikini with Southern Girl Gets Fit. This challenge isn't about actually wearing a bikini, per say, but about reaching some goal/milestone in your weight loss/fitness routine. My goal will actually to be to wear a bikini, a feat I haven't done since giving birth, lose 3 inches off my tummy and run in at least 3 5Ks. Too lofty? I hope not!

I'm breaking down my goal into two phases.

Phase 1: Complete the Couch 2 5K program and run a 5K for St. Patrick's Day. I was thinking the Aggieville one but not drinking the beer along the way! Boo! While doing the #c25k I will also be working out to various workout dvds that I have on off days and working on my core. This means planks and anything abdominal related. I would like to lose 1 inch off my tummy by this time as well.

Phase 2-Lose 3 inches off my tummy and complete in two more 5Ks by May 31st. So that I can go bikini shopping for the summer!

Today was my first day of the #c25k program and I completed it. I'm running outside since I don't care for treadmills. (I don't like them because I feel like I can't control my speed very well and I don't want to fall and become an instant hit on YouTube for being the fat girl that fell and got schooled by the treadmill.) I felt really good running and so glad that I just decided to do it. I kept telling myself that I already won half the battle because I was at least out running and not sitting at home on the couch. Progress!!

Proof!

The after-run picture. I wasn't cold even though my face looks it. I also had a minimal selection of stocking hats. It was this or blaze orange. A trip to target is planned for tomorrow to get a better one.

The temp while I ran. I had to dodge snow and ice on some parts of the running trail. I'm just glad I didn't fall!
